Objectives

From the perspective of attachment theory, the group studies the characteristics and quality of the interactions that the person establishes with caregivers and significant others throughout the life cycle.

Research Topics

  • ‍Qualityof parental and other caregiver care and its antecedents: caregiver sensitivity, parenting styles or practices, paternal involvement, co-parenting, maternal gatekeeping, caregiver attachment representations (narratives), caregiver's history of parental care. 
  • Attachment of children, adolescents and adults: representations (narratives) and security of attachment in children; attachment with parents, partners and friends of adolescents and adults. 
  • Human-pet bonding: characteristics of the human-pet bond; relationship of these bonds to well-being and socioemotional development throughout the life cycle; grieving the loss of a pet.
  • Social-emotional competence of children: social competence and emotion regulation. Behavioral problems in children and psychopathological symptomatology in adolescents and adults. 
  • Interventions from attachment theory: strengthening caregivers' parenting skills.
